Triggering question: Are you caught up in carefully crafting your story from a place of ego and fear? Or are you actually owning your truth?
Modern-day spirituality loves to talk about living our “truth” but sometimes it’s hard to even know where to start in a world with so many distractions. We live in a world that loves to poke at our ego. We live in a world where it’s easy to create a digitally-enhanced facade of what our life actually looks like. We share the highlights, the perfect angles, and the triumphs.
But are we actually looking in the mirror and acting as our highest selves or who we think we should be?
You can only evolve and expand after you’ve owned every part of your story. Keyword: YOUR story. Not Ashley’s. Not some spiritual chick you follow on Instagram. Not your mom’s. YOUR story. Without truly acknowledging our own journey, we can never tune into what our soul needs to grow. Not sure where to start? Here are 7 ways to go inward:
Face the Shadows.
Inner work is the last thing many of us want to face in our evolution. When we can face the darker parts of our soul, only then can we heal and grow. Whether we bury mental health issues, trauma, addiction, low vibe emotions like jealousy, fear, or self-loathing, poor communication, or even bad habits, we must recognize that they are a part of us. We are still just as worthy and loveable despite them.
Learn to Let Go.
Once you’ve faced your shadows it’s important to release and forgive so you can make space something better. Owning your truth also means accepting that you are always changing. Learning to let go puts us in a constant state of expansion. Think of your journey to your best self like a succulent. As it grows, it sheds its bottom-most layer in order to blossom. Be like a succulent.
Learn to Receive.
As women and as mothers we spend a lot of time in the divine masculine of doing, yet we’re taught little emphasis on the magic of receiving in the divine feminine. Finding more balance and alignment between the two can help you be more in tune with your true self. Whether its through self-care, accepting help, meditation, or Netflix and chill, make sure you are making space for you to just be.
We have to meet ourselves where we’re at and know it’s enough. Sometimes we don’t want to look in that mirror, but when we do it must be through grace. Loving and accepting exactly where you are can help you find more power in the here and now and give you the motivation you need to show up to work towards your highest self.
Take Back the Power in Your “Weaknesses.”
Our flaws are what make us dynamic and unique beings. Don’t ever think they make you less than. Oftentimes what we see as our biggest weaknesses are either our biggest strengths or our biggest opportunities to learn. When you see your weaknesses from this perspective, it can empower you to own who you truly are and know that you’ve been given a roadmap for how to grow.
Self-love can never be stressed enough. Love your shadows. Love your weaknesses. Love your stretch marks. Love your mistakes. Love your triggers. They are what has brought you to this very moment as you read these words, BUT they do not define you and that’s an important distinction. Choose to love you for exactly you every single day and watch the immense shifts that happen. When we choose to love, we are choosing to embody the highest frequency, thus attracting so many magical things.
Use Your Truth to Help Others.
One of the most powerful things someone said to me during my really hard postpartum journey was to recognize the beauty in going through it so I can help others. And it’s so true. When we acquire wisdom and strength during times of adversity, we now have the tools to help others going through the same thing. Never underestimate the power of your story just because you think it doesn’t have the same highs and lows as someone else’s. Someone out there needs it to heal. Trust me.
